Since the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, Indonesia's tourism movement has come to a halt. Covid-19 is a new challenge and a large-scale obstacle to the world of tourism. The tourism dimension cannot be separated from human activities to travel from one place to another. Covid-19 makes tourism stronger and creates various new innovations, one of which is tourism based on “Safety and Hygiene”.

The government has set CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment Sustainability) standards as a new tourism policy to restore and support post-pandemic tourism. The Covid 19 pandemic has made tourists now prioritize safety and hygiene aspects. Therefore, the government, businesses and stakeholders must be able to adapt to this change. The implementation of CHSE in every tourist destination is needed as a response to the needs of tourists.

DESMA Center held a series of “CHSE Coaching and GLNP Management in Batu Katak Ecotourism” on April 13, July 13 &14, and September 8, 2022 in Batu Katak Ecotourism Area, Batu Jongjong Village, Bahorok District, Langkat Regency. This activity aims to provide assistance in introducing CHSE and the importance of implementing CHSE in tourism destination areas.
