Joint-Monitoring and Evaluation Visitation of SGP Program at DESMA Center Project Locus

Joint-Monitoring and Evaluation Visitation Program SGP with ASEAN Center for Biodiversity (ACB) from Manila office, Philippines; The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Gunung Leuser National Park Center (BBTNGL) at the DESMA Center project Locus in the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area, Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL), Langkat Regency, North Sumatra was held on July 29, 2022.

 

This Joint-Monitoring and Evaluation activity is to identify the achievements of the SGP Indonesia program, as well as to know the challenges, lesson learned and best practices during the implementation of the program.

 

DESMA Center, represented by Founder & Director Wiwik Mahdayani from DESMA Center Jakarta office, accompanied by the entire DESMA Center Field Office Medan office team received attendance and provided the necessary information to the Evaluator Team during the visit. On this occasion, DESMA Center explained the achievements of project activities as well as best practices and lessons learned during project implementation.

 

 

Also present with the DESMA Center team were all beneficiaries or direct beneficiaries of the project, namely the Batu Katak Tourism Institute team, the Nature Lovers Community Group-Batu Frog, the Erih Ersada women's group, the Repala Micro Business women's group and village officials. On the occasion, the group of beneficiaries who attended also displayed local products and their flagship services.

 

The Small Grant Program in Indonesia (SGP Indonesia) is a collaborative program between the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) and the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in the form of a Small Grant Program that includes biodiversity and livelihood conservation programs. This collaboration is contained in a Memorandum of Mutual Understanding signed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry together with ACB on May 21, 2015 in Jakarta with the Implementing Agency is the Directorate of Biodiversity Conservation. Funding support for this program was obtained from the German Government through the German Financial Cooperation/KfW.

 

Through this mechanism, DESMA Center implements the Ecotourism Digitalization project and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra in the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area, TNGL, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra until December 2022.
