Courtesy Visit dan Kick-off Program Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard and Training-Pilot Project, TanaMori, Labuan Bajo

In the context of the Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard and Training-Pilot Project Program, TanaMori, Labuan Bajo supported by IA-CEPA ECP KATALIS, a courtesy visit was held as part of the kick-off program in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara on 6 - 11 September 2022 by KATALIS implementing partner.

 

IA-CEPA ECP KATALIS is a government-supported trade and investment development program to unlock the great potential of economic partnerships between Indonesia and Australia. CATALYST complements the Australian Government's existing development programmes with a commercially oriented bilateral approach and places gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) at its core activities.

 

During the visit, a series of consultation meetings were held with stakeholders in West Manggarai, internal workshops, site visits to TanaMori and attending the Tourism Investment Forum in Labuan Bajo.

 

 

Consultation meetings with PT Flores Prosperindo, as a direct beneficiary of this program, were conducted with Mr. Petrus Antonius Rasyid, Head of BAPPEDA Manggarai Barat; Mr. Francis Sales Sodo, West Manggarai Regional Secretary; Mr. Pius Baut, Head of the West Manggarai Tourism Office; Mr. Pater Marsel Agot SVD, religious leader in West Manggarai; Mr. Septian Hutagalung, Head of D-3 Ecotourism Study Program and Mr. Seven, Head of Community Service Center, ElBajo Polytechnic; Mr. Tiburtius Hani, Program Manager of Burung Indonesia East Nusa Tenggara Area; as well as several representatives of the Project Management Unit-ITDC in the TanaMori Tourism Integrated Area.

 

In addition, a site visit was held to the TanaMori Area to see the latest conditions of the development of the area. During the visit, training was also carried out to induce knowledge about the principles and criteria of sustainable tourism destinations according to the criteria and principles of GSTC by the team leader, Nicolas Pitet.

 

In one of the agendas of this courtesy visit, KATALIS implementing partners also attended the Tourism Investment Forum 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations which was carried out in a hybrid manner by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM together with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, as well as the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment. In this forum, PT Flores Prosperindo with the TanaMori portfolio that is heading towards destinations that will apply the principles of sustainable tourism, will also make a presentation to potential investors present. The presentation was made by Mr. Alfonso Pardede, President Director of PT Flores Prosperindo and Mrs. Amalia Sosrodiredjo KATALIS-DECORUM Group.

 

 

The Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard and Training-Pilot Project, TanaMori, Labuan Bajo program helps facilitate the TanaMori Tourism Integrated Area to prepare for sustainable tourism destinations by using the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) Destination Criteria as a foundation and reference. The program will also engage relevant stakeholders to have a common understanding and commit to working together in achieving the criteria and principles of sustainable tourism based on the GSTC criteria.

 

In addition to providing a framework in preparation for the achievement of these criteria, this program will also provide Training of Trainers for stakeholders to understand the objectives, commit to meeting the criteria for sustainable tourism according to the GSTC criteria. In addition, this program will also facilitate marketing for investment in the form of preparation of investment prospectus and other investment promotion materials.
