Job Fair Tourism Vocational School 2022 in Southwest Sumba.
The 2022 SMK Tourism Job Fair will be held at the Hall of SMK Pancasila Tambolaka on June 9-10, 2022; is the first Job Fair held in Sumba. Previously, there had never been an implementation of a job fair in this region.
This activity involved 95 SMK teachers who collaborated in the implementation of the Job Fair. The SMK alumni who took part in the 2022 SMK Job Fair were 227 people from SMK West Sumba and Southwest Sumba for 2 (two) days of activity. The Business world and the Industrial World participating in the 2022 SMK Job Fair are 19 entities from Southwest Sumba, West Sumba, East Sumba, Solo, Bali and Kupang.
The SMK Tourism Job Fair was attended by smk alumi, especially graduates in 2020, 2021 and 2022 all majors from SMK Pancasila Tambolaka, SMKN 2 Tambolaka City (SMK Tourism assisted by DESMA Center), SMKN 1 Tambolaka City, SMK Bakti Luhur Tambolaka, SMK Kasimo Tambolaka, SMK Efata Ombarade, SMK Don Bosco Tambolaka, SMK Kesehatan Bakti Sumba, SMKN 1 Waikabubak, SMKN 2 Lamboya from West Sumba.
The Business World and the Industrial World that participated in the Job Fair activities included: Bali Dynasty Resort Kuta Bali, Mawatu Labuan Bajo, New Sasando International Hotel Kupang, Morika Inn Waikabubak. Sumba Hospitality Foundation, DPP PHRI East Nusa Tenggara Province, DPP IHGMA (Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association) East Nusa Tenggara Province, Ne' Neru Loko Waroeng & Koffie Waikabubak, BLK Don Bosko Budi Daya Sumba Tambolaka, PT. Flobamora Makmur Indonesia - Solo, PT. Multitama Indraprasta Prima - Yogyakarta, Kawona Beach Club Tambolaka, JF Course Tambolaka, STKIP Weetebula, STIMIKOM Stelamaris Sumba Tambolaka, Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana Sumba Waingapu, Sirkey Café & Resto Tambolaka, PT. Weetebula Pawnshop, NAM Air Tambolaka and Southwest Sumba State-Owned House.

The job fair was held for two days and started with workshop on the first day, Thursday Jun 9, 2022. Participants took part in a preparatory workshop to take part in the 2022 SMK Tourism Job Fair. The Sumba Hospitality Foundation team, Operational Manager of New Sasando International Hotel Kupang, HR Manager of Bali Dynasty Resort provided training at the workshop. The workshop consisted of several sessions including: Tips for compiling a good and correct cover letter and Curriculum Vitae; Techniques using the Canva App, techniques for dealing with job interviews as well as good grooming. On this occasion, the Director of PT. Multitama Indraprasta Prima Yogyakarta, Mr. Harry Lesto Hadi, M.S.I.E., also provided motivational material to SMK alumni to take part in the 2022 SMK Job Fair.
For the second day, Friday June 10, 2022, SMK Job Fair 2022 was opened by the Regent of Southwest Sumba, dr. Kornelis Kodi Mete. The opening ceremony of the 2022 SMK Job Fair was also attended by the Head of the Southwest Sumba Tourism Office, WLF Representatives, the Southwest Sumba Manpower and Transmigration Service, the Sma / SMK / PLB Korwas of SBD Regency – The Education and Culture Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province, The Acting Head of the Education and Culture Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province (online), the Head of SMK Efata Ombarade, the Head of SMKN 2 Tambolaka City and representatives from other vocational schools in Sumba.
The activity began with a report on the implementation of the 2022 SMK Job Fair activities submitted by the Project Manager of the Sumba DESMA Center, Boyke Hutapea. Then a speech from the representative of WLF, Mrs. Mariska Estelita (Communication Lead) followed by remarks from the Head of the NTT Provincial P&K Office, Mrs. Henderina Laiskodat. Then the Regent of Southwest Sumba gave a speech as well as officially opened the activity. In his remarks, the Regent of Southwest Sumba advised that the SMK Job Fair could be carried out in the coming years, if necessary, to be held every year; because this kind of momentum is an event for SMK alumni to get job opportunities and as motivation for senior year students to learn better to improve their competence. The Regent of Southwest Sumba then reviewed the booths of participants from the Business world and the Industrial World who were present at the 2022 SMK Job Fair; followed by an interview session by the entire media.

It is hoped that through the 2022 SMK Job Fair which is being held for the first time on Sumba Island, the Business World and the Industrial World on Sumba Island and from outside Sumba Island can take advantage of the 2022 SMK Tourism Job Fair to obtain prospective workers according to their competencies and needs, as a forum to bring together SMK graduates directly so as to facilitate the recruitment and placement process, building the image of schools in the industrial world and society, becoming a forum for VOCATIONAL graduates who are looking for jobs and / or entrepreneurship to reduce the unemployment rate, and as a medium for schools to establish long-term relationships with industry.
All parties that involved and appreciated the SMK Job Fair 2022 also hoped that this event could be held every year.
SMK Tourism Job Fair 2022 was held by DESMA Center along with all the teachers and also students from class X and XI Tourism major and Design major from SMK Pancasila Tambolaka. The Job Fair is one of the Tourism TVET Ecosystem Strengthening Project in Southwest Sumba. The direct beneficiaries are SMKS Pancasila Tambolaka and SMKN 2 Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba Regency. The program lasts for 2 (two) years, August 2020 to July 2022 in collaboration with the NTT Provincial P&K Office and the Southwest Sumba Regency Government with the support of the William & Lily Foundation.
