DESMA Centre Holds a Synchronisation Meeting with Gunung Leuser National Park Authority
The Plh Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park (BBTNGL) Ruswanto SP SH and his staff received the DESMA Center team directly in order to synchronise the DESMA Center's cooperation program with BBTNGL in the Field III area of the Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL) at the BBTNGL office Jl. Selamat No.137 Medan, on 25 March 2022.
DESMA Center presented the work program that will be implemented in the context of the project "Digitalisation of Ecotourism and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra" implemented by DESMA Center. This is a project of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW.
In its presentation, DESMA Center explained that the Digitalisation of Ecotourism and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors program consists of a series of training activities which include : (1) Tour Guiding Training (2) Itinerary and Tour Quotation Preparation Training (3) Service Excellence Training (4) Homestay Management Training (5) Culinary Training (6) Hygiene & Sanitary Training (7) Financial Management Training (8) Social Media Management Training (9) Story Telling Training, Caption Writing, and Article Writing for Ecotourism Promotion.
The project will also provide facilitation of CHSE implementation in the tourist destination category, business matching, Tourism Stakeholders Networking, and the development of a digital platform that will optimise tourism and creative economy businesses in the Gunung Leuser National Park area in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra

The Plh Head of BBTNGL Ruswanto SP SH expressed support for the implementation of the SGP program as well as providing direction to the DESMA Center team in implementing activities in the field. Also attending the event were Mr Rinaldo, Ms Fitriana Saragih, Head of the Utilisation and Service Section; and Head of the Program and Cooperation Section Yosia Wirasylva B. Ginting. The synchronisation ended with a discussion and group photo.
