Handover of Student Internship Handbook for Industrial Work Practices (PRAKERIN) of Tourism Vocational Schools, Instructor Journal and Supervisor Journal in Sumba
After conducting the formulation, introduction, drafting, review and socialisation of SMK tourism student internship guidebooks, instructor journals and mentor journals for two quarters of the Tourism TVET Ecosystem Strengthening project in Southwest Sumba; DESMA Center has handed over the PRAKERIN SMK Tourism student internship guidebooks to 2 (two) assisted schools (SMK Pancasila Tambolaka and SMKN 2 Tambolaka City), with the theme of the guidebooks for the majors of Travel, Hospitality Accommodation and Catering.
In addition to handing over the guidebooks to the assisted SMKs, DESMA Centre also handed over the final guidebooks in hard copy to 7 (seven) non-assisted tourism SMKs involved in the preparation and review of the SMK tourism student internship guidebooks, instructor journals and mentor journals; including SMKN 2 Lamboya, SMK EFATA, SMKN 1 Waikabubak, SMK Bakti Luhur, SMKN 2 Tambolaka, SMK Kasimo and SMK Pancasila, witnessed by the Coordinator of SMA/SMK/PLB Supervisors of P&K Office of NTT Province and tourism industry players.
The SMK tourism student internship guidebook aims to improve the quality of internship student performance, while the Instructor Journal, is intended for the industry to monitor and evaluate the internship program; and the Mentor Journal, for teachers accompanying students who are doing PRAKERIN. The guidebook and journal have been used by the school for students who carry out PRAKERIN, teachers and the industry where the internship program is carried out for students.
The handover of the Tourism Vocational School PRAKERIN Student Internship Handbook is part of the Strengthening the Relationship between Assisted Tourism Vocational Schools and the Tourism Industry, in the Tourism TVET Ecosystem Strengthening project in Southwest Sumba implemented by DESMA Center.

The "DESMA Pandai - Strengthening the Tourism TVET Ecosystem in Southwest Sumba" programme is implemented by DESMA Center, a collaborative project funded by the William & Lily Foundation and Adaro Foundation. This collaboration is carried out to support the government, educational institutions, tourism industry and communities in Southwest Sumba in preparing quality human resources and ready to contribute to sustainable tourism development.
The program lasts for 2 (two) years from August 2020 to July 2022. The direct beneficiaries are SMKS Pancasila Tambolaka and SMKN 2 Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba Regency. Project activities include: (1) Strengthening advocacy to provincial and district governments; (2) Increasing the capacity of tourism vocational schools to prepare to meet the requirements towards LSP P1; and (3) Strengthening the linkages and networks of tourism vocational schools with related tourism industries.
This project partners with the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Office of Education and Culture, Korwas SMA/SMK/PLB of Southwest Sumba Regency, Southwest Sumba Regency Government, Southwest Sumba Regency Tourism Office, as well as 2 (two) model SMKs namely SMKN 1 Kupang and SMKN 3 Denpasar which are involved in a sister school program with SMKS Pancasila and SMKN 2 Tambolaka.
The project also received support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
