Jakarta, 25 February 2026 — DESMA Center, together with the Assistant Deputy for Event Strategy under the Deputy for Event Organizer Development at the Ministry of Tourism, presented the Roadmap for the Development of Indonesia’s Tourism Event Industry 2025–2029 to the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, at the Sapta Pesona Building in Jakarta. This strategic document outlines six strategic areas, 28 action plans, and 107 key performance indicators, designed to realize the vision of positioning Indonesia as a globally competitive and sustainable world-class tourism event destination by 2045.

DESMA Center explained that the roadmap was formulated through an in-depth consultation process involving 22 business actors and industry associations, and is aligned with the national agenda of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029 and the Indonesia Gold 2045 vision. The implementation is structured into four phases, as follows:

1. 2025–2026: Strengthening Regulations, Governance, and Institutional Frameworks;

2. 2026–2027: Strengthening Industry Capacity, Standardization, Connectivity, and Support Systems for National Tourism Events;

3. 2027–2028: Infrastructure Implementation, Activation of Tourism Event IP Portfolios, and Sustainable Events; and

4. 2028–2029: Strategic Regulations, Investment Acceleration, and Sustainability Incentives.

Each phase is accompanied by Action Plans, Key Activities, and Performance Indicators to ensure effective and sustainable implementation.

The Ministry of Tourism, represented by Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and her team, welcomed the document and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the event industry as a key driver of national tourism foreign exchange earnings, with a target of USD 32–39.4 billion in tourism foreign exchange revenue by 2029.

The roadmap is expected to serve as a collaborative foundation for 70 stakeholders connected to the tourism event industry, including government institutions, professional associations, supporting suppliers, media providers, venue operators, convention and exhibition bureaus, event management companies and professional organizers, digital platform providers, academics, and other supporting parties, in building a competitive and sustainable tourism event ecosystem in Indonesia.
