Wonderful Indonesia Awards (WIA) 2025 is an awards program organized by the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) to recognize tourism stakeholders for their contributions and dedication to advancing Indonesia’s tourism sector. WIA 2025 presents awards across various categories, including tourist attractions, green events, and collaboration partners. WIA 2025 was officially launched online in September 2025, with the main awards ceremony scheduled for 5 December 2025.
As one of the curators for the Sustainable Hotel category, DESMA Center collaborates with the Assistant Deputy for Sustainable Tourism Business Management, under the Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism. A meeting was held on 13 October 2025 to provide input on the assessment indicators and to review hotels that had registered. This was followed by the curation and jury process.
The curation results were then presented and discussed in a series of curation meetings held on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, and Friday, 14 November 2025. The Sustainable Hotel category of WIA 2025 is open to four and five-star hotels, with assessment indicators covering environmental policies and actions in hotel operations; the use of environmentally friendly products; energy efficiency; human resource development; solid waste management; water efficiency and water quality; air quality management; as well as engagement or collaboration with local communities and organizations.
The Sustainable Hotel category of WIA 2025 serves as a form of appreciation for hotels that implement sustainability principles in their business operations and management. The application of these sustainability principles extends beyond environmental aspects to include tangible contributions to local communities surrounding the business location. Through this award, it is expected that sustainable practices will be further expanded and encouraged, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s tourism sector while supporting the sustainable development agenda.
