As part of efforts to strengthen the policy framework for tourism business standardization and certification, the Assistant Deputy for Standardization and Certification of (Tourism) Business, under the Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with DESMA Center, developed the document titled “Survey and Perception Analysis of Tourism Business Operators and Local Governments on Tourism Business Standardization and Certification Policies.”

To prepare this document, a survey was conducted among tourism business operators and local governments between July 31 and August 1, 2025. To complement the survey, a series of 1 on 1 meetings were also held to gather in-depth insights from tourism business practitioners regarding their experiences with standardization and certification. These consultations involved 32 business associations representing 13 tourism business sectors across Indonesia, with a total of 123 participants.

The survey results and perception analysis were presented by DESMA Center, as Kemenpar’s implementing partner, to the Assistant Deputy for Standardization and Certification of Business under the Deputy for Industry and Investment, on October 27, 2025, in Jakarta. The meeting was attended by Mr. Franc Orlanda, S.H., M.H., Assistant Deputy for Standardization and Certification of Business, and Ir. Rizki Handayani Mustafa, MBTM, Deputy for Industry and Investment, who emphasized the importance of the survey data for improving the quality of Indonesia’s tourism businesses.

The survey results mapped the understanding, perceptions, and needs of tourism businesses regarding standardization and certification policies. This document will assist the Assistant Deputy for Standardization and Certification of Business under the Deputy for Industry and Investment in formulating strategies to enhance the quality of tourism businesses through effective standardization and certification policies. Ultimately, this initiative aims to improve tourist satisfaction and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s tourism industry.
