DESMA Center and the Ministry of Tourism Conducted Series of Consultation Meetings for the Development of Indonesia’s Tourism Event Roadmap

Author: Communication Unit

The Assistant Deputy for Event Strategy, Deputy for Event Organizers Development, Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with DESMA Center, is developing the Roadmap for the Development of Indonesia’s Tourism Event Industry.

As part of the methodology for preparing this document, a series of online consultation meetings was conducted with approximately 22 associations representing various sectors of the tourism event industry across Indonesia. The consultation series took place from July 11 to August 22, 2025.

The preparation of this document aims to formulate an evidence-based roadmap for the development of the tourism event industry to sustainably enhance the competitiveness of the national tourism industry at regional, national, and global levels, with a clear plan for short-, medium-, and long-term development.

The document is expected to provide direction for policies and priority programs aligned with the national tourism development strategy and to address existing and potential challenges. Through this roadmap, the government is expected to have a clear framework for developing the tourism event ecosystem, encompassing regulations, human resource capacity building, and business ecosystem strengthening.

The outcomes of this limited consultation series with various associations will be further elaborated by the DESMA Center team as part of the preparation of the Roadmap for the Development of Indonesia’s Tourism Event Industry.

The Ministry of Tourism and DESMA Center will also hold a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with representatives of associations invited to the limited consultations, along with representatives from relevant ministries/agencies and various deputy offices within the Ministry of Tourism.
