DESMA Center explains the strategy for strengthening the recreation park industry ecosystem in Indonesia in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Taking place on November 8 2024 at Gedung Merdeka, Jakarta.
This activity is a follow-up visitation and joint survey on August 14-16 2024, The first FGD will be on August 29 2024 in Jakarta, And Second FGD on October 29 2024 in Bandung. The recreational park industry shows promising potential in the global market. In 2023 it has an economic value of USD 74.2 billion and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5 percent in 2024-2030 (Global Market Insights, 2024).
Founder & Executive Director of DESMA Center Mrs. Wiwik Mahdayani conveyed global recreation park industry trends, findings from profiling the recreation park industry in Indonesia, guidelines for implementing sustainable tourism principles in recreation park businesses as well as recommendations for policy aspects for developing recreation park businesses in Indonesia.
After the presentation, it was continued with a discussion regarding the findings and recommendations. The next plans and strategies will involve the role of the central government, regional government and recreation park business actors to strengthen the recreation park industry ecosystem and implement sustainable tourism.

The results of this profiling are mapping and policy analysis for the development of the recreation park industry in Indonesia.
The aim of preparing this study is to provide policy direction, strategies and recommendations for developing the recreation park industry with sustainability principles in Indonesia; in order to strengthen Indonesia as a quality and competitive tourism destination in ASEAN and globally.
