Having the potential for nature-based tourism, Indonesia needs to make efforts to minimize the impact of the climate crisis on tourism. Overcoming the climate crisis requires collaboration between government, local communities and the tourism industry.
Ashoka Indonesia held activities Garahu Bumi Content Challenge in March 2024 which aims to provide understanding of care and movement to slow the climate crisis through educational content via social media. Previously, participants received provisions in creating social media content.
Supporting the Gaharu Bumi Content Challenge program, DESMA Center and Ashoka Indonesia are working together to provide ecotourism packages to Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra for two winners. This tourist trip will take place on 10-13 July 2024, visiting DESMA Center partners and assisted loci in the tourist destinations Batu Katak, Bukit Lawang and Tangkahan.

Tourist activities carried out include jungle trekking, river tubing, wildlife watching and Village Tour. Through this activity, it is hoped that it can provide experience for competition winners, introduce the natural and cultural riches of Gunung Leuser National Park to the younger generation, and foster a sense of love and concern for the environment.
