Joint Survey and Visitation of Recreational Parks in Indonesia

Recreation Parks is one of the 13 subcategories of the tourism business sector in article 14 of Law no. 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism, namely the organization of entertainment and recreation activities. The Recreation Park Business is a type of tourism industry, in which various types of attractions are operated. Containing an entertainment element and can have an educational element, this business operation can be complemented by the provision of food and beverage services, souvenirs and accommodation.
The Directorate of Industrial Management, Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and DESMA Center jointly carried out a survey and visitation of Recreation Park Businesses, on 14-16 August 2024. The Recreation Park Businesses visited were located in East Java, namely Prigen Safari Park, Jatim Park , and Sengkaling Recreation Park. One of the visits is also a discussion with the tourism department and related DPMTSP.
This activity was carried out in the context of the DESMA Center as an implementing partner of the Directorate of Industrial Management, Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to prepare a study document for Strengthening the Recreational Park Industrial Ecosystem in Indonesia.
The results of the discussions on the survey and visitation with the Recreation Park Business Manager will be compiled as a Problem Identification List for developing a quality and competitive recreation park industry.

DESMA Center as implementing partner prepared a study document on Strengthening the Recreation Park Industry Ecosystem in Indonesia which focuses on the governance of the recreation park industry, by determining the superior and priority recreation park industry; application of sustainability principles, as well as policy mapping and analysis for the development of recreational parks in Indonesia.
The aim of preparing this study is to provide policy direction, strategies and recommendations for the development of the recreation park industry in Indonesia; as well as implementing the principles of sustainability, in order to strengthen Indonesia's position in tourism development in ASEAN and globally as a quality and competitive tourism destination.
