Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL) is one of the Nature Conservation Areas in Indonesia where four charismatic species, elephants, rhinos, tigers and orangutans live together in the wild. Has an area of ​​1,094,692 hectares, administratively located in the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra. As a conservation area, Gunung Leuser National Park is surrounded by a buffer area that offers a variety of sustainable tourism and ecotourism activities. Human resources are an important component as a driver of tourism activities.

 

Seeing this potential, Mr. Dr. U. Mamat Rahmat, S.Hut., MP.; The Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park Office has developed an integrated community-based prevention strategy for illegal activities. The program that has been prepared was presented in an audience with the Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province, on Monday, 09 October 2023 at the Office of the Governor of North Sumatra Province in Medan.

 

 

15 people attended, including Mr. H. Agus Tripriyono, S.E, M.Si., Assistant for Economics and Development at the Regional Secretariat of North Sumatra Province; Mr. Palber Turnip, S.P., M.H., Head of Stabat Region III NP Management, Gunung Leuser National Park Office; Mrs. Ir. Yuliani Siregar, M.AP., Head of the North Sumatra Environment and Forestry Service (LHK); North Sumatra Culture & Tourism Office, North Sumatra DESMA Center, PETAI Foundation and Sustainable Ecosystem Foundation (YEL).

 

DESMA Center is present as a representative partner of the Gunung Leuser National Park in the program Digitalizing Ecotourism and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.
