DESMA Center attended the hearing on the work program of the Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park Center with the Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province

Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL) is one of the Nature Conservation Areas in Indonesia where four charismatic species, elephants, rhinos, tigers and orangutans live together in the wild. Has an area of 1,094,692 hectares, administratively located in the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra. As a conservation area, Gunung Leuser National Park is surrounded by a buffer area that offers a variety of sustainable tourism and ecotourism activities. Human resources are an important component as a driver of tourism activities.
Seeing this potential, Mr. Dr. U. Mamat Rahmat, S.Hut., MP.; The Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park Office has developed an integrated community-based prevention strategy for illegal activities. The program that has been prepared was presented in an audience with the Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province, on Monday, 09 October 2023 at the Office of the Governor of North Sumatra Province in Medan.
