Teaching Factory Digitalization - Installation of Visual Hotel Program (VHP) Application Software for Tourism Vocational High Schools in Sumba

Entering the digitalization era, it is important for hotel industry staff to have the expertise to operate integrated systems. The Visual Hotel Program (VHP) is an integrated system used by the hospitality industry to facilitate work between divisions. One of the DESMA Center-assisted SMKs has a hospitality industry major, for this reason the DESMA Center carried out the Installation of Visual Hotel Program (VHP) Application Software on Tuesday, July 4 2023 at the DESMA Center Field Office Sumba office.
Integrating the VHP Application into the educational curriculum, assisted schools can provide students with relevant skills and are expected to prepare them to face challenges and opportunities in the world of work. Through the VHP application students can learn various important aspects of hotel management, such as room reservations, inventory management, finance and customer service.
This activity was attended by representatives of DESMA Center assisted school teachers. The VHP application software installation process was carried out remotely from Jakarta guided by the VHP team PT. Supranusa Sindata Jakarta. The DESMA Center Field Office Sumba team assisted teacher representatives of assisted schools in the process of installing the VHP application.
Through the installation of Visual Hotel Program (VHP) Application Software, it is hoped that it can improve students' ability to adapt to technological developments and improve skills relevant to hotel industry operations.

This activity is part of Program TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba implemented by the DESMA Center.

Strengthening Tourism HR Capacity aims to realize "The tourism vocational school education program in Sumba so that it meets the needs and requirements of the tourism industry, thereby offering better job opportunities for young people and supporting sustainable tourism in Sumba."
This program includes strengthening (1) the management capacity of tourism vocational schools that are in line with the independent curriculum and the concept of sustainable tourism; (2) Teacher capacity in pedagogical knowledge, about sustainable teaching and tourism (3) Tourism Industry Vocational Vocational School Partnership; and (4) the entrepreneurial capacity of students in creating sustainable tourism businesses.
The direct beneficiaries of this program are (1) SMK Pancasila – Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (2) State Vocational School 2 Tambolaka City, Southwest Sumba; (3) Bakti Luhur Vocational School – Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (4) Efata Vocational School - Omba Rade, Southwest Sumba; and (5) SMK Negeri 1 Waikabubak, West Sumba. The direct partners of this program are (1) the Office of Education & Culture of East Nusa Tenggara Province; (2) Southwest Sumba Regency Government; (3) West Sumba Regency Government; (4) Tourism Office of Southwest Sumba Regency; and (5) West Sumba Regency Tourism Office.
