Team Building DESMA Center Team to Support TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba Program

Human resources are the driving force of the organization and become an important component, so it is necessary to increase capacity to support work. DESMA Center execute Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building in 19-23 June, 2023 at Bali.
Participated by the entire DESMA Center team, including Program Team Leaders, Program Managers, Program Officers, Senior Finance & Administration, Finance & Administrative Officers, Communication Officers and Persons in Charge of DESMA Center activities (Directors); the Local Coordinator of the MISEREOR/KZE program in Indonesia was also present.

Institutional strengthening and capacity building is a form of the DESMA Center's commitment to implementing quality program activities; provide a measurable impact on direct beneficiaries in tourism education institutions to be able to contribute to economic development and environmental preservation
In this activity, an internal alignment meeting was also held with a discussion of the DESMA Center's long-term strategy, vision and mission as well as future organizational targets to be achieved together with the entire team. The purpose of this meeting is to align the team and ensure that all teams have the same understanding of the programs implemented by the DESMA Center.

Materials in capacity building activities are divided into 3 topics, namely (1) finance & administration, (2) program management and (3) customized communication with work units in the team. Present as the speaker, Ms. Leony Unsulangi for financial & administrative material; Mr. Imam Mulyadi for program management materials; Mr. Rizky Homy Nahomy and Mr. Riza Bahasuan for communication materials.
Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building is expected to increase individual capacity which has implications for strengthening the DESMA Center organization to effectively and efficiently achieve program objectives and the expected impact; gain practical knowledge and understanding of program management and financial aspects of program activities; team building to enhance cooperation, sound decision-making, effective communication skills within the team; build a person who is proactive, positive, confident, resilient and creative.

Program TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba supported by MISEREOR/KZE; implemented by DESMA Center. Upgrading capacity of human resource on tourism inted to implement “vocation tourism school education program in Sumba in order to fulfilling needs and requirement on tourism industry, so it can offering better employment opportunity to youth and also supporting sustainable tourism in sumba.”
This program covering upgrading for (1) management capacity vocational tourism school reciprocal with merdeka curriculum and sustainable tourism concept; (2) teacher capacity in knowledge about pedagogy, teaching dan sustainable tourism (3)partnership tourism vocational school and tourism Industry (4) student entrepreneurship capacity for creating sustainable tourism business.
Beneficiaries for this program is (1) SMK Pancasila – Tambolaka, Sumba Barat Daya; (2) SMK Negeri 2 Kota Tambolaka, Sumba Barat Daya; (3) SMK Bakti Luhur – Tambolaka, Sumba Barat Daya; (4) SMK Efata - Omba Rade, Sumba Barat Daya; dan (5) SMK Negeri 1 Waikabubak, Sumba Barat. Partner for this program is (1) Nusa Tenggara Timur education and culture state authority; (2) Government Sumba Barat Daya regency; (3) Government Sumba Barat Regency; (4) Sumba Barat Daya Tourism Regency Authority; dan (5) Sumba Barat Tourism Regency Authority.
