Kick-Off Program TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba

This kick-off highlighted the commencement of the project TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba which is implemented for 3 (three) years, from November 1, 2022 to October 31, 2025. This activity was held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Pasola Hall, Hotel Sinar Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba.

 

Attended by MISEREOR/KZE representatives as supporters of this program; Principals, Vice Principals of Curriculum, Vice Principals of Public Relations and Heads of Tourism Departments from 5 DESMA Center assisted schools located in Southwest Sumba Regency (SMKS Pancasila Tambolaka, SMKN 2 Tambolaka City, SMKS Bakti Luhur Tambolaka and SMKS Efata Omba Rade) and West Sumba (SMKN 1 Waikabubak).

 

 

The Director of Vocational Development of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Dr. Wardani Sugiyanto, M.Pd. was present online to provide direction. Regent of Southwest Sumba Dr. Kornelius Kodi Mete; Head of Southwest Sumba Tourism Office Mr. Ir. Nyoman Agus S., M.T.; Head of Regional Development Planning, Research and Development Agency (Bappelitbangda) Mr. Drh. Oktavianus Dapadeda, M.Si.; Secretary of the Southwest Sumba Regency Tourism Office Mr. Samuel kali, S.Pd. Oktavianus Dapadeda, M.Si.; Secretary of the West Sumba Tourism Office Mrs. Anisah Umar, S.IP.; Korwas SMA/SMK/SLB of Southwest Sumba Regency Mr. Samuel kali, S.Pd. and Korwas SMA/SMK/SLB of West Sumba Regency Mr. Adriana Martha D. Ngongo, S.Pd. offline. Also present were representatives of DUDI (Business World Industry) and other relevant stakeholders, namely Sumba Adventure, Hotel Sinar Tambolaka, Gula Garam Restaurant and Neruloko Waroeng & Koffie Sumba, Sumba Hospitality Foundation, Unika Weetebula, Inna Seraphine Foundation, William & Lily Foundation, Inspiration Foundation, One Name Foundation, and Gita Pertiwi Consortium.

 

Founder & Director of DESMA Center Mrs. Wiwik Mahdayani explained the design of activities that will be carried out in the TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba program. Aiming to provide an overview to beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders. After the presentation, discussions and questions and answers related to the program implemented by DESMA Center followed. The Supervisor of SMA/SMK/SLB of Southwest Sumba and West Sumba Regency also appeared as a resource person in this session.

 

 

The Kick Off Program is part of the TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba Program implemented by DESMA Center.

TVET Program for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba supported by MISEREOR/KZE; implemented by DESMA Center. Strengthening the Capacity of Tourism Human Resources aims to realize "Tourism vocational school education programs in Sumba to meet the needs and requirements of the tourism industry, thus offering better employment opportunities for young people and supporting sustainable tourism in Sumba."

 

Program ini meliputi penguatan (1) Kapasitas manajemen sekolah kejuruan pariwisata yang sejalan dengan kurikulum merdeka serta konsep pariwisata berkelanjutan; (2) Kapasitas guru dalam pengetahuan pedagogi, tentang pengajaran dan pariwisata berkelanjutan (3) Kemitraan SMK Pariwisata-Industri Pariwisata; dan (4) Kapasitas kewirausahaan siswa dalam penciptaan bisnis pariwisata berkelanjutan.

 

The direct beneficiaries of this program are (1) SMK Pancasila - Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (2) SMK Negeri 2 Kota Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (3) SMK Bakti Luhur - Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (4) SMK Efata - Omba Rade, Southwest Sumba; and (5) SMK Negeri 1 Waikabubak, West Sumba. The direct partners of this program are (1) East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Education & Culture Office; (2) Southwest Sumba Regency Government; (3) West Sumba Regency Government; (4) Southwest Sumba Regency Tourism Office; and (5) West Sumba Regency Tourism Office.
