Visit Leuser Website and Promotional Video Launch

DESMA Center conducted a hybrid launching of promotional video, website and talk show on November 30, 2022 in Medan, North Sumatra. The event was opened with an implementation report by Mrs. Wiwik Mahdayani; Founder & Director of DESMA Center, as well as remarks from Dr. U. Mamat Rahmat, S.Hut., MP, Head of Gunung Leuser National Park. The event was opened by Dr. Nandang Prihadi, S.Hut., M.Sc.; Director of PJLKK, Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

 

Through a report submitted by the Founder & Director of DESMA Center, he said that the continuation of the digitalization and promotion of the Batu Katak Ecotourism Area is an integration of all tourism and creative economy actors in the Gunung Leuser National Park buffer zone in Langkat Regency. The availability of the visitleuser.com website is expected to make it easier for prospective tourists to find information related to tourist services in the tourist area in Gunung Leuser National Park and provide sustainable ecotourism awareness.

 

 

The Head of Balai Besar TNGL said that the use of digitalization is one of the media for cooperation between the community, business actors, and the government.  The Director of PJLKK of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry also added that the importance of the community as the main actor in carrying out the 4C principle, namely: Conservation, Communitas, Commodity, and Communication.

 

The activity, which took place offline and online, began with the introduction of the VisitLeuser promotional video which features excellent tours in GLNP that can be an option for tourists. The promotional video can be accessed here:

 

 

The talk show, which raised the topic “Digitalization of Sustainable Tourism in Indonesia”, was filled with prominent speakers, namely Mr. Dwi Marhen Yono, S.STP, M.Si.; Director of Nusantara Tourism Marketing, Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy; Mr. Solahuddin Nasution, S.E, MSP.; Chairman of the Association of The Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) North Sumatra; Mr. Fitato Hartoyo; Generasi Pesona Indonesia (Genpi) Community North Sumatra and Mr. Reza Permadi Halim; Chief Operating Officer Atourin. Mrs. Hetty Claudia Nainggolan, S.ST.Par., M.M.; Medan Tourism Polytechnic lecturer as moderator.

 

The next session was the launching of visitleuser.com website which was inaugurated by Dr. U. Mamat Rahmat, S.Hut., MP; Head of Gunung Leuser National Park accompanied by Mrs. Wiwik Mahdayani; Founder & Director of DESMA Center. The visitleuser.com website was built to accommodate information on tourism services and products in the Gunung Leuser National Park area that is informative and can be easily accessed by tourists. This website is also connected to the websites of: KLHK Nature Tourism Park, Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra Provincial Culture and Tourism Office, Langkat District Tourism and Culture Office and Pesona Indonesia.

 

The Launching of “Visit Leuser” Website and Talkshow “Digitalization of Sustainable Tourism in Indonesia” are part of the Ecotourism Digitalization Project and Capacity Building of Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra implemented by DESMA Center. The Ecotourism Digitalization and Capacity Building Program consists of a series of training activities that include: (1) Tour Guiding Training (2) Itinerary and Tour Quotation Preparation Training (3) Service Excellence Training (4) Homestay Management Training (5) Culinary Training (6) Hygiene & Sanitation Training (7) Financial Management Training (8) Social Media Management Training (9) Story Telling Training, Caption Writing, writing Ecotourism Promotion Articles.

 

This project also provides facilitation of (1) implementation of CHSE certification in the tourist destination category, (2) business matching, (3) Fam Trip (4) Stakeholders Networking, and (5) Development of a digital platform that will synergize tourism and creative economy businesses in the Gunung Leuser National Park area in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.    

 

The Ecotourism Digitalization Program and Strengthening the Capacity of Ecotourism Actors are aimed at providing solutions to the challenges of market access, connecting attractions and increasing quality tourism products in the GLNP region III area. This is in line with government objectives contained in the National Medium-Term Plan 2020 - 2024, the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy 2020 - 2024 and the National Tourism Development Master Plan 2010 - 2025.
