Development of tourism map for on-site travellers in the Gunung Leuser National Park – Collaboration of DESMA Center – UNESCO Office Jakarta and Gunung Leuser National Park

DESMA Center in collaboration with UNESCO Office Jakarta and Gunung Leuser National Park carried out assessment to tourism attractions, accessibilities and amenities elements in the national park’s area. The assessment is implemented in the tourism map format with the comprehensive information on tourism attractions, accommodation, local guides and accessibility that can be used by travellers on-site to assist mobilization of their activity in the park. This English version tourism map is prepared with navigation map, practicalities information, visitor tips, cultural heritage of the area, biodiversity values and the importance of park for the livelihood of community around. The tourism map comprises tourism information of Kedah, Ketambe-Gurah, Tangkahan, Bukit Lawang, Marike and surrounding areas and Laot Bangko Lake.
